FAQs

What is therapy?

Therapy, also called psychotherapy or counseling, is the process of meeting with a therapist to resolve problematic behaviors, beliefs, feelings, relationship issues, and/or somatic responses (sensations in the body). Beginning therapy can be a big step toward being the healthiest version of yourself and living the best life possible—no matter what challenges you may be facing. Through therapy, you can change self-destructive behaviors and habits, resolve painful feelings, improve your relationships, and more. (Goodtherapy.org)

This is conducted with Laura Booth our licensed clinician.

What is a life coach?

A life coach is a type of wellness professional who helps people make progress in their lives in order to attain greater fulfillment. Life coaches aid their clients in improving their relationships, careers, and day-to-day lives.

Life coaches can help you clarify your goals, identify the obstacles holding you back, and then come up with strategies for overcoming each obstacle. In creating these strategies, life coaches target your unique skills and gifts. By helping you to make the most of your strengths, life coaches provide the support you need to achieve long-lasting change. (verywellmind.com)

Typically, life coaches are your lead accountability partner and will assist you in accomplishing your goals. Often, as therapist work through traumas, disorders, or diagnosis the life coach works with you on goal achievement, life organization, and mindfulness.

This is completed with our certified life-coach through her life-audit program with Gabrielle Booth.

What is chaplaincy care and how do discernment sessions benefit me?

Spiritual care professionals such as chaplains are trained to listen, respond empathetically, make assessments, and provide resources for people who seek their help. Chaplaincy care through discernment sessions allows for clients to talk through their difficult moments in life with a compassionate individual who can provide triage, a listening ear, and prayer. These sessions are beneficial for those who are seeking spiritual support and clarity.

"Christian modes of healing have always distinguished themselves by achieving a spiritual advance in connection with the healing process" (Hunter 1990, p. 497).

Deborah Fortune is our resident chaplain and pastoral care facilitator.
